Me in a long-form podcast interview, talking about AI (this is not a DALL-E 2 query)
After four weeks off, I am back. More writing coming your way soon, but I wanted to share something that I hope is worth your time.
I did a long-form podcast interview with Joe Buck here at Lehigh for our GO Getters series. They are doing a whole season on generative AI and my interview was the first of many to come.
This was a fun interview to do. Normally when I’m interviewed, what makes the final cut in a written story or radio interview is a soundbite, a fraction of what I say. Very normal and understandable given the demands of the medium. But I like how this turned out because it has answers given to nuance and context, so you can get much more in-depth about how I think about the issues surrounding AI in work and personal habits. People ask me all the time how I think about this world of AI that is, to be clear, no longer theoretical and absolutely upon us. This is probably as good a place as any to start (other than reading this newsletter).
Extra things I enjoyed about the interview were it allowed me to go more deeply into my philosophy of education and why I really enjoy teaching here at Lehigh. I don’t get much chance to do that, and I was grateful for the opportunity.
