Excellent post and I completely agree — the diversity of ideas and experiences not like my own are what make Twitter uniquely valuable and precious. I'm sticking around for the same reasons as you, Jeremy. I hope Twitter weathers this storm. Fingers crossed.
I left Twitter as soon as the insanity began. It was an invaluable source of information and the access to experts was remarkable, but remaining on the platform is untenable. Musk will burn it to the ground before he admits his fantasy was just a fantasy...something that sounded good in billionaire tech bro chat rooms, but made zero sense to the 99.9% of the rest of us. Kara Swisher was interviewed today, and she believes that one or more substitutes for Twitter (not Bluesky or Mastadon) are on the horizon. Millions of us would rather wait than endure trolls, bots, and propaganda.
